Fleissner Fiber Conference, 05 June 2009

In completion of the Polyester & Intermediates Conference of June 3&4, Fleissner GmbH offered all participants to visit its technical center in Egelsbach on June 5 to gain insight into new developments of man-made fiber production. One focus, in particular, was on the use of so-called torque drives in fiber lines, which make it possible to do without large distribution gears while at the same time resulting in increased technological flexibility and energy savings of some 10%.

As an introduction to the event, sales manager Rüdiger Weinhardt provided a survey of the complete machinery program with special emphasis on processing of PET fibers. PET fibers are either combined with absorbent viscose fibers or used as split fibers and processed on numerous Fleissner lines into wiping cloths or microfiber webs. Another large field of application is the production of roofing felts and geotextiles on processing lines including equipment by Erko-Trützschler.

Subsequently Erwin Glawion, in addition to his paper on the production of PET fibers from PET flakes for the automotive industry delivered during the conference, explained further components of the Fleissner fiber lines, which were afterwards pointed out in the running fiber line.
