ACHEMA (May 15-19, 2006) Summary

Integrated Turn-Key Concepts from Polymers via Staple Fibers to Nonwovens

Fleissner could very successfully position themselves during this year's Achema as turn-key suppliers for man-made fibers.

The Fleissner product program for the man-made fiber section has been extended in 2005 to include extrusion spinning systems with complete staple fiber lines for lower and medium outputs now being available from a single source.

The core of the spinning plant in two-stage systems is the well-tried Zimmer BN100 ring spinneret. Single-stage compact processing plants use a newly developed Fleissner ring spinneret. Both a conventional configuration of dryer with single-screw extruder and a configuration without dryer using a double-screw extruder can be delivered for polymer chips processing.

Fleissner as nonwovens system supplier has been supplying complete production lines for nonwovens for some time already. With the extension of its delivery program in the man-made fiber section, Fleissner now not only offers systems for staple fiber production, but also integrated concepts from polymer to finished nonwoven. The combination of its know-how in staple fiber production with its innovation lead in the field of nonwovens allows designing and delivering plants for optimum added value.

Several complete trial lines have been installed by Fleissner in Egelsbach for the development of new concepts and new products made of polymers such as PET, PTT, PP, PE, PA. The trial line for production of staple fibers has been extended to include a single-stage spinning system (compact process) and a two-stage spinning system (conventional process). In this way, the entire range of technologies for melt extrusion and staple fiber processing is now available for trials. When combined with the nonwovens lines and the Fleissner AquaJet system installed at the technical center, it is now possible to validate the entire chain of processes from polymer to nonwoven at production scale. It is thus ensured that new processes and new products can be specifically developed and realized at low cost within a short period.

Only innovation will provide the decisive head start in the market.
